So I am living in Germany and playing on a west coast US server (i know, dont ask). Time difference is +9 hours.
I signed up for my first Naxx 25 man this week and set my alarm for sunday at 5AM. (8PM server time)
I woke up at 5AM all sleepy-eyed. We get going, and wipe on patchwerk twice. We decide to skip him and move on to spider. Then leader DCs and whole raid breaks up.
Now I know this happens. But 5AM. I woke up at fucking 5AM. I'm so mad now I think i will look for a new guild.
This was my first Naxx run BTW. Why were we wiping so hard on patchwerk? I read we need someone to soak up hateful strike. Not sure if we had that?

Patch is also a dps check, chances are if your dps is low your not going to get him down as the hate strike will become to hard, and yes you do need a OT to soak the hate strike.

Hateful strike is sort of like "rampage" from Everquest, if you're familiar with that. The main difference being that, it hits the person in melee range with the most hps(it's not agro dependant(necessarily..as long as you have some - 1 hit and 50k hps would be fine, as a very gross and completely impossible example). You can set it pretty easily, as tanks invariably have more hps then anyone else in WoW..if it goes unchecked you'll wipe.
Patchwerk also has a VERY nasty enrage at 6mins..so this fight is both a war of attrition(you can't afford to lose many, especially early on(and before people blow their long cooldown dps abilities)) and a "dps check". Dead people do no damage.
I would suggest a bear form druid or a geared out the ass paladin for HS-tank. I've done it as blood spec, but I'd really just rather MT him(he hits hard as hell..either way).
HS comes roughly every second. If you can't control it, you'll never win.
Good luck. Make sure both tanks have dedicated healers..and hope that people all have a threat meter and can read as he's immune to taunt.

Guild broke up after this. Will hopefully get a new guild to run with this weekend and try again.

So any luck on the new guild and have you managed to do full naxx clear yet?

(Lichking) Have the same problem Stationed in germany with the Army and play on Kaz Modan which is 9 hours behind me and run into the same problems, the time difference sucks for us I feel your pain.
And a helping hand last weekend did Naxx 10 had 2 Pally tanks and we never wiped. Also for Patchwork having a Dis Priest will help, the shield they got helps the tanks survive long enough for heals. Everyone wipes now and then it's just the matter of regrouping and not doing the same mistake twice :) ;)
My run took 6 1/2 hours bc of people coming and going was freaking annoying.
The final boss watch out for The voids!

Yah my connection been pretty good the past few weeks. But two weeks ago i had some trouble.
Managed to do naxx a few times now. My paly is almost full T7 prot and naxx drops for ret. It was slow going though and still tough. Im trying to get him a few pieces of T8 now. Also leveling a warlock now so I can just sit back and dps no brainer. Almost 68 and about to hit Northrend. Leveled him really fast with full heirlooms.
Im REALLY happy they changed the way looting works and allow you to trade for up to 60 mins. This was a MUCH needed changed. Lost two naxx drops that I still might use now because of this(1DC, and 1 mainloot messed up).

sounds like a pretty shitty guild to begin with.
I used to belong to a guild like that back in the MC/BWL days. Leader would bitch and moan about people being there on time, being in the right gear, having the right pots, buffs etc (doing AQ40 at that time).
Then that douche would bail ... or have to go.. after our first wipe. cock,
I love the guild I'm in now on Bloodhoof, could not have asked for a better mix of focus anf fun. if you all are around, feel free to look me up.

Yah that guild disbanded shortly after. I actually found a pretty good guild now. One that even raids at a good time for me (10am server, which is like 6pm my time).
We're doing 10man uld now, and although progression is slow because most of us are new to uld, the people are pretty cool and I cant find a better raid time, so I'm happy.
Welcome to DKA!

Hey, thanks for the welcome dude.
Was suring around at work looking for a DK forum which wasnt blocked by websense, and yours wasnt! so don't go changing anything!! :)
Good to see a decent community, I'll try and post useful things for our class when I come across them.
For now, my only advice for new level 80 DK's is Htoc, toc, toc, toc, toc, toc, toc..etc, etc.
You will be 25 man naxx rdy in weeks, rather than months.
Also, for gold, dailies are nice.. but i find that farming lower instances and selling the runecloth, can fetch a good profit.
On Bloodhoof for instance, someone is always buying up the runecloth and i can typically get away with charging 18g per stack.
A typical run thru strat (both side) nets around 15-20 stacks.. so add that up :D
Your mileage may vary of course.
